Tetsuo Kondo is an architectural firm that designs a simple white house in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. At a distance, this house that stands on a residential area provide a great place for a family of a couple and two children to do their daily activities here. The designer makes the design of this building in irregular shape with an ordinary square building as its concept base. White painted wooden walls cover up entire the exterior and leave ordinary roofs with tiles.
Simplicity is the point that the designer wants to accentuate. We can see from the beginning that this simple white modern house only has white and natural brown tones. There are several spaces of garden on both inside and outside the building. That plan is really suitable for houses. If there is a limited space to have a courtyard, the designers can make additional garden on rooftop or the other space beside the front side.
This four level floors house divide the room plans according to the functions and spiral stairs connect each floor. There are two children’s bedrooms, an open side garden, a library, and two rooms of storages on the ground floor which is a half-buried. The designer utilizes a space beside the stairs as a piano’s room that is the access for both children’s bedrooms. An entrance with wooden stairs porch and a bathroom fill the floor above.
On the upper floor, there are family rooms with light wooden floor and a garden that overlooks the environment in front of the house. A living room with black sectional sofa and Scandinavian chair lies on the higher section beside a dining room with wooden round table and various wooden chairs around. This house with many of natural light sources can be an inspirational simple modern house design that emphasizes simplicity in healthy lifestyle.
